November 24, 2010

I didn't update since my last labs and Dr. visit, since not much had changed. But I had a new series of labs drawn last week, so I thought I would write a quick update. I feel blessed to have gotten through a very busy, crazy summer and fall, and been able to do everything I wanted to do. I have had quite a few more infections than usual, usually sinus, and they seem to hit harder and stay longer. This is expected since leukemia is all about a compromised immune system. I have been diligently trying to stay well. There is hand sanitizer with me at all times, and I do my best to avoid sickness. At my last visit with Dr. Te, he looked a 2 new lumps which had turned up since my last appointment. He said we will just keep an eye on them. I had a few internally that showed up on my last CT, so he may want to do another CT at the first of the year to see if they have grown.

My labs showed things slowly progressing. My Red blood count, hematocrit, and hemoglobin had dropped again, which puts me in the anemic category. I do notice this with a lot of dizziness, and more fatigue than usual. My white count continues to move up (which is the wrong direction), but nothing unexpected. My lymphocyte percentage and absolute lymphocyte count are higher than they've ever been, but this is expected too. Slow progression.

For now, I am doing great. Roger is very caring, and supportive, and helps me to stay well. My next appointment will be in early February.
